Jonathan is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. His special interests are in reconstructive breast surgery, aesthetic and developmental breast surgery and chest wall reconstruction, and he is a core member of the Greater Manchester Oncoplastic Breast Surgery service, based in the department of plastic surgery and the Nightingale Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital.

Jonathan works closely with fellow plastic surgeons Miss Siobhan O’Ceallaigh and Mr Stuart Wilson to provide a full reconstructive service alongside Wythenshawe’s team of breast surgeons. He is a member of the breast family history and oncoplastic multidisciplinary teams, and offers microsurgical breast reconstruction (DIEP, TRAM and TUG flaps), implant-based reconstructions, risk reducing surgery and surgery for symmetry.

Having graduated from the University of Manchester in 1998, Jonathan undertook surgical training in the West of Scotland before specialty training in plastic surgery in the North West. During his training, Jonathan spent time in prestigious fellowships focusing on microsurgical breast reconstruction at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, in the treatment of skin cancer at the Melanoma Institute Australia in Sydney and in aesthetic surgery both in London and in the North West. On completion of his training he was appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Marsden Hospital before returning to the North West.

In the early part of his training, Jonathan spent time in dedicated research concentrating on wound healing, scar management and anti-scarring therapies. This work culminated in the award of a research doctorate as well as publications in scientific journals and national and international presentations.
