Wards F4 and F7, Adults

The main Plastic Surgery wards are F4 and F7, staffed by specifically trained plastic surgery nurses with expertise in wound care, perioperative patient management and monitoring of flaps after microsurgical free tissue transfer.

The Burns Centre

The unit is a modern, purpose built area with 12 beds in total, of these two are intensive care ‘level 3’ rooms for the most complex cases and a further two are designated, isolated high dependency beds.   The Burns Centre has its own operating suite which can be made available on a 24 hour basis for emergency admissions.

Ward F8, Paediatrics

F8 is Wythenshawe’s children’s ward.  F8 also has an attached Day Surgery unit; much of the congenital hand surgery is performed on a day case basis.   Directly underneath the ward is the Starlight children’s outpatient clinic.

Treatment and Diagnostic Centre (TDC)

TDC is a combined outpatient clinic and theatre complex.   The Manchester Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns has three theatres in TDC with nursing, ODP and support staff versed in all aspects of trauma and elective reconstructive operating.   TDC is also the site of all of our adult clinics.
