Biography
Mr Wong is one of our New Academic Consultant Plastic Surgeons, received his training through the Academic training programme in Manchester and was the first “Walport NIHR” Clinical Lecturer In Plastic Surgery.
His primary interest is in managing trauma ranging from simple to complex with particular expertise in tendon problems, complex wounds and reconstructive microsurgery. He was one of a handful of International candidates to receive training in the famous “Chang Gung Memorial Hospital” in Taiwan.
Mr Wong has an Honorary Senior Lecturer position at the University of Manchester with research that focuses on understanding the process of fibrosis and tissue formation strategies. He teaches and supervises numerous students on the Masters and Postdoctoral Programme at the University and has international collaborations in France, Germany, Taiwan and the USA. He has an extensive research portfolio, which has been funded in the past by the Academy of Medical Sciences, Wellcome Trust, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH) and most recently the Medical Research Council (MRC).
