Paediatric plastic surgery
The paediatric service is based in RMCH, with a few cases being treated at UHSM. The scope of Paediatric Plastic Surgery is vast, however, to highlight a few key services we provide:
- Cutaneous lesion excision – particularly potentially pre-malignant lesions such as Spitz naevus, giant hairy naevus, sebaceous naevus of Jadassohn. If large, these may require reconstructive procedures such as tissue expansion.
- Vascular Malformations – we have a vascular MDT at RMCH which oversees treatments of arterio-venous malformations and we have a well organised protocol for using propranolol to treat problematic capillary haemangiomata.
- Congenital or developmental ear anomalies, including prominent ear correction.
